About us

Healing Shepherd Ministries has been ministering to the hurting since 2003. Gerry van der Wende is an ordained minister, endorsed hospice chaplain and trained as grief recovery coach. He has served in turn as senior church pastor, rehabilitation program chaplain, prison chaplain, hospice and bereavement chaplain. He serves as hospice chaplain and bereavement coordinator, at Heart of Healing Hospice in Phoenix AZ.

He earned a Master of Practical Theology degree from the King's University, majoring in counseling. Gerry is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). He trained as a life coach, and has an accredited grief and bereavement counselor certificate (IAOTH).

Rates and Insurance

Donations are welcome as they enable us to continue our ministry. We do not bill insurance. Payment may be done via Zelle or by mail.

Our office conducts its counseling either in-person, by phone, or by end to end encrypted video.

We would appreciate 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment.
